Vaughan Public Libraries Service Info

Re-opening of Resource Libraries (with limited service) on June 14th

Beginning Monday, June 14th, our three Resource Libraries (Bathurst Clark, Civic Centre, and Pierre Berton) will be opening their doors to the public with limited access. The following details the limitations that will be in place in order to keep our staff and community safe.

  • The maximum customer occupancy limit will be reduced to 10 at Resource Libraries
  • Customers in Resource Libraries will only have access to the marketplace area of the library, immediately inside the main entrance. All other areas will be blocked off to public use.
  • Customers will be able to enter Resource Libraries to pick up holds, apply for library cards, receive assistance from staff and use public computers.
  • Public computers will be accessible on a first-come, first-served basis which will be sanitized after every use. Usage will be limited to 15 minutes.
  • Staff will provide essential photocopy, WebPrint and Email-to-Print services.
  • Public restrooms will remain closed.
  • All pre-existing safety measures, including a requirement to wear masks and to observe physical distancing remain in place.

These measures do not affect curbside pickup, which will continue to be offered at our seven community branches. For more information on this service, visit: www.vaughanpl.info/curbside

We continue to accept returns through our exterior bookdrops at all libraries except Maple, and all due dates, hold requests and overdue notices will continue as normal. All returned items are quarantined before being added back to the collection.

If you have any questions about library services, need help finding materials or are looking for a recommendation, we can help! Visit www.vaughanpl.info/ask_us or call 905-653-7323 during operating hours.

Please stay safe, and we thank you for your perseverance.

A special message from Rose Savage, Vaughan Public Library Board Chair.

Since the onset of the pandemic, everyone at VPL has worked incredibly hard to exceed your expectations and maintain exceptionally high levels of service. We know how important our libraries are to you, which is why I’m proud to share with you a one-year summary of our response and achievements during the pandemic.

A Remarkable Year

Maple Library Update:

From February 26, 3:30 pm, all services at Maple Library will be temporarily suspended until further notice. Maple Community Centre will be the site of a mass vaccination centre starting March 2021. It is anticipated that the vaccination centre will be very busy and that this will impact the ability of VPL to deliver services and provide collection access at Maple Library. In order to maintain appropriate health and safety protocols for all parties and to ensure smooth operations at the vaccination centre we have made the decision to temporarily suspend services at Maple Library.

Please see the document below for full details.
