Library Fees and Charges

Vaughan Public Libraries is proud to be a fine-free library system. Our libraries no longer charge daily overdue fines in order to reduce barriers and provide equitable access to our customers. Some fees remain in effect, such as replacement fees for damaged or lost items.

Borrowing

Full replacement cost plus a $5.00 non-refundable administration fee as determined by the library

You may pay the fees and charges at any Vaughan Public Libraries branch, or online.

Programs

Payment in full is required at time of registration. Refunds issued up to 7 days prior to scheduled. Program or at the discretion of VPL. Programs cancelled by VPL will receive a full refund.

Suspension of Membership

Borrower privileges are withdrawn:

  • when charges of damaged or lost items reach $25.00 or more;
  • if 1 or more items are overdue 30 days or longer;
  • if lost materials are not paid for;
  • if user activities damage library computers, systems, software of computer equipment;
  • if a user persistently fails to comply with VPL Policies, Regulations and Rules of Conduct;
  • library card expired;
  • card reported as lost.

Privileges will be reinstated upon payment of all outstanding charges, or when a proof of address is provided to renew your library card.
