Get Spring Ready with The Seed Library!

Seed Library

With food prices remaining stubbornly high and a greater focus on healthy, organic and sustainable living, growing your food from scratch has never been more tempting. We’re proud to partner with York Region Food Network to help make this dream a reality by giving you the seeds and know-how to get started. This year, we will host a series of gardening-related programs, which will provide step-by-step instructions on growing plants and getting the best out of your edible garden.

The current program lineup is as follows:

The Seed Library

We have also launched a Seed Library, a collection of seeds you can “borrow” and grow through the season! The Seed Library can be found at Bathurst Clark Resource Library, and you can take up to three different types of seeds – one packet of each type. You simply need to bring your library card and chosen packets to our information desk, and we will help you check them out. If possible, at the end of the season, you can help us continue the Seed Library by saving your seeds and dropping them off at the same information desk.

The Seed Library is launching with a wide selection of vegetable and herb seeds (and a few flowers for brighten your day).

Seeds Available:

  • Beans & peas
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Corn
  • Cucumber
  • Eggplant
  • Flowers
  • Herbs
  • Hot pepper
  • Leafy greens
  • Onion
  • Root veg
  • Squash
  • Sweet pepper
  • Tomato

Please note that availability will vary on your visit based on which seeds have already been borrowed.
