This exhibit has been provided by The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. It is fully bilingual and consists of 6 fabric covered walls; 2 pop-up banners and 8 interactive reader rails plus one interactive touchscreen.
Refuge Canada Tent raises awareness of the complex issues surrounding the history of refugees in Canada. Drawing upon oral histories, archival images and interactives, this immersive exhibit serves as an introduction to the context for Canada’s place in the global refugee crisis and brings to light the challenges faced by refugees in Canada.
An informative author visit for teens has been planned to support this great exhibition. VPL will host Author Nadia Umadat, a Canadian social worker of Indo-Guyanese heritage, born in Toronto. She has a Master's Degree in Social Work and a Graduate Diploma in Refugee and Migration Studies. Join us for The Refugee Experience with Nadia Umadat.
