Something magical is happening at the library for one night only and you are invited.
A celebration of all things Jane Austen! Dance & play card games mentioned in the stories, enjoy themed food & drinks, take costumed photos, paint with watercolours and more!
Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $20 or 2/$30, for ages 19+. Please register on Eventbrite or at the Service Desk.
Stations/Activities
- Games Table: Enjoy trying your hand at playing Whist, Chess, Checkers, Solitaire, or a few rousing rounds of “Marrying Mr. Darcy”
- Watercolour Painting: Enjoy a relaxing moment of solitude and art (art supplies are provided)
- Rousing Austen Oratory: Participate in a dramatic reading of various passages from Austen’s works
- Refreshments: A variety of English teas, waters, and scrumptious fancies will be provided throughout the evening
- Art Of The Fan: Learn the language of the Fan with a hands-on staff led tutorial.
- The Drawing Room: Enjoy a high quality photo opportunity in a re-created Regency drawing room with some of Austen’s most beloved and infamous characters in Regency garb. Images will be emailed to participants.
- On Location: Take photos in the Green Room and choose from a number of Austen’s famous literary estates to superimpose in the background. Images will then be emailed to participants.
- Dancing: Enjoy learning Regency era English Country dances taught by Jane Austen Dancing Instructor Karen Millyard. No partner or dance experience is needed. Indoor shoes with a low heel or well-worn running shoes are recommended for dancing. Costumes are warmly encouraged!
