Thank you for your interest in facilitating a program with Vaughan Public Libraries. Most of VPL’s programming is developed by professional library staff, however, VPL does collaborate with community partners to deliver programming such as lectures, workshops, cultural programs, and other specialty programs that align with VPL’s Strategic Plan. VPL is committed to offering free programs, and any program registration fees are set with reducing economic barriers in mind.
VPL welcomes new ideas from the community, however, VPL receives many program proposals, and we are unable to offer all the programs pitched to us. Priority is given to programs that complement our collections and services and meet the goals of our Strategic Plan. VPL also takes into consideration the interests of the local community, the suitability of the library’s physical space, and how the program would fit into the library’s overall schedule of events.
Please note that VPL does not generally partner to deliver programs that:
- Are better suited to Recreation Services
- Have any promotional or commercial content. Direct solicitation is not allowed.
Business professionals delivering information sessions will not receive an honorarium, but they may provide their contact information or business card to audience members upon request.
If you would like to submit a program idea for consideration, please fill out the Program Proposal Application below. Please note that programs are planned up to six months in advance. Submitting a proposal does not guarantee that the program will be offered.
A valid Vulnerable Sector Check from York Regional Police, or any other police service in Canada, dated within the last 12 months, may be required for presenters working with vulnerable populations. Should you require a VSC, you will be contacted by library staff. For more information about Vulnerable Sector Checks, please see the York Regional Police website.
Please note that for some programs, we may ask for proof of insurance. Library staff will contact you with more information if proof of insurance is required.
A VPL staff member will follow up with your request if we are interested in partnering with you or would like more information. Please note that due to the volume of requests received, you will only be contacted if VPL decides to move forward with your idea. Program ideas will be kept on file for two years. Approval of a previous proposal does not guarantee approval for future programs.
Please note that Vaughan Public Libraries does not provide references or testimonials for presenters or performers. We can provide confirmation of service upon request.
