Update on Bathurst Clark Resource Library Renovations: October 11

The Library continues to progress with its renovations.
Contractor, Massive Devon has begun renovation work at Bathurst Clark Resource Library (BCRL).
Great things are happening at Bathurst Clark Resource Library (BCRL) as major renovations will start on June 29 with the library being closed for approximately two months, reopening in the fall.
The reno includes adding lots of comfy new chairs, study tables and a new laptop dispensing kiosk; creating a new program/meeting room and two exterior book return slots into the library; and the painting and replacing of all the carpet in the main public library space. Renovations also include the creation of a children’s space with a new storytime area and the LEARN IT! lab, a creation space offering children’s tech programs such as virtual reality, creating movies, coding all kinds of robots, building computers and many other options..
During the closure, customers may return library materials to any VPL branch. Customers may also renew their items online. Holds identified for BCRL pick-up will automatically be transferred to Dufferin Clark Library. For your convenience, library hours at Dufferin Clark Library are being extended as of July 3 for the duration of the renovation:
Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9 am. to 5 p.m.
Customers who wish to pick up their holds elsewhere or who wish to deactivate their holds during the renovation can do so online by accessing their library account. For assistance on how to deactivate or modify your holds pick-up location, contact the Service Desk.
As you enter the Civic Centre Resource Library, you will now be greeted by a fantastic image at the front entrance of the library.
The photo was taken at the Grand Opening Celebration in September 2016 during a storytime led by staff member, Lonnie Freedman.
An over 10 feet tall by 14 feet wide, opaque vinyl image adorns the entrance at Civic Centre Resource Library.
A new accent wall and branded whiteboards now showcase Pierre Berton Resource Library’s MAKE IT! space.
The back wall of MAKE IT! has been painted a navy blue. Vinyl words such as Die Cutter, Robotics and Coding are scattered throughout with #BeAmaker, lettering 4 ft. wide by 1.5 ft. tall, highlighted on the central part of the wall.
Five mobile whiteboards have also been covered with high gloss vinyl on one side to define the area where makers of all levels go to create. Each brilliantly-coloured, 6 ft. wide by 3.5 ft. height board shows various activities happening in the space: green screen, electronics, virtual reality and 3D printing. You must check it out!
Check out the windows on the east side of the Civic Centre Resource Library! Eight windows have been covered with images, approximately 10 feet tall by 5 feet wide, depicting the many individuals who use the library and its resources.
Made of micro perforated vinyl, the window coverings allow for one-way vision from the inside. All images also have a silver filter to blend with the building and enhance the modern appearance.
