Maple Library Renovation Project Update

VPL is excited to share that several recent renovation activities at the Maple Library Community Centre have concluded successfully.

Ongoing work includes:

Adjustment and reinstallation work of study counter in the quiet area study.
Film application and electrical work on the portico entrance structure.
Finishing touches in the staff kitchenette and staff entrance area.

Equipment installation has successfully seen the completed reinstallation of the library’s mini sorter, self-checks, and a laptop dispensing kiosk. Configuration of software and network installation work continues to progress nicely.

As the Maple Library renovation project wraps up, last month’s activities included completing outstanding project elements. This consists of graphic film installation, pot lights installation, quiet study room glass installation, millwork installation, flooring work, security & IT work, and completion of work in the library’s front foyer.

Activities currently still ongoing include touch-ups, addressing existing deficiencies and fire alarm verification and inspection. New library shelving and subsequent furniture deliveries and installation are anticipated to arrive and begin soon.

VMC Library & VMC Express Project Update

We continue to see significant progress on VMC Library and VMC Express. Most recent work includes millwork installation throughout the sites, library service desk and slatwalls, installation of all interior signage and completion of outstanding railing work.

VMC Library & VMC Express Project Update

We continue to see progress at VMC Library and VMC Express. In late December, the project reached a significant milestone by achieving conditional occupancy of the space. Library millwork, including VMC Express custom shelving, customer service desk, slatwall and benching, is currently in production.

Bathurst Clark Renovation Project

The scope of the improvement project includes resurfacing of the existing parking lot area, addressing existing draining issues, incorporating three new parking spaces and five lay-by spaces, including electric vehicle charging stations, the inclusion of pedestrian multipath connecting foot traffic from Promenade Circle to Clark Ave and maintaining accessible parking space requirements. The library’s front entrance will also include new lighting, new benching addition of new planters outside to help strengthen the library’s main entrance and its presence in the community.

Maple Library Renovation Project Update

Construction activities at the Maple Library continued throughout December. Installation of reading garden shade structures and outdoor furniture is now complete. Sound baffles have been painted and hung. All painting work is done, and decorative film decal installation on leaf motives has begun. All CVP flooring is also complete, and preparation for carpet installation is ongoing. Glass installation of library quiet study room is in progress. All millwork pieces have been received and will be installed following carpet installation.

Project Update – VMC Library & VMC Express

We continue to see progress at VMC Library and VMC Express. Support structure for VMC Express millwork is currently being installed, while millwork for VMC will commence next month. We’ve received the remaining furniture; staff work furniture, manager’s office set and study tables are now in place. Library collections and equipment are scheduled to be received in early February.

Construction activities at the Maple Library Community Centre are progressing. Activities include ceiling installation, wall finish and painting, glazing installation in the quiet study area, carpet, decorative film installation, and many activities associated with the outdoor reading garden. In the next couple of weeks, construction will include the installation of an outstanding ceiling grid, ceiling tiles, baffle installation, and glass installation in the quiet study area. Front foyer work will commence with replacing floor tiles and the leadership structure installation.

Project Update – VMC Library & VMC Express

VMC and VMC Express are experiencing significant progress this month. The curtain wall glass installation in both library spaces is now complete; this includes full installation of the library’s entrance sliding doors, glass walls and all remaining glass doors. Fabrication of the library’s service desk is now also complete, and the installation is expected to take place in the next couple of weeks. Millwork of the VMC Express is currently in fabrication, and the support structure should be complete shortly.

Maple Library Renovation Project Update

Construction on Maple Public Library continues to experience significant progress. The work on wall framing, duct installation, taping, and light fixtures is nearly complete. Installation of the leaf fixture is still in progress and starting to take shape. Work on the Reading Garden has begun as well as the Staff Kitchen and Staff Workroom.
