Living Your Best Life at Any Age

June is Senior’s Month and this year VPL is celebrating with the second annual Living Well Fair at the Civic Center Resource Library on Monday, June 8th, from 10 – 2 pm. We have a lineup of fun, engaging sessions, in fact, there is something here for everyone! You will definitely want to plan ahead and register for any sessions you want to attend, although dropping in and taking your chances is also fine. Here is the Eventbrite Link to register Living Well Fair 2026 Tickets, Monday, June 8  •  10 AM – 2 PM | Eventbrite

Sessions

We are starting the day at 10 am with: Soundbath with Project Healing. This session, in recognition of Indigenous History Month, is an altogether deeply relaxing experience! You are offered a sonic meditation facilitating deep rest. Bring a yoga mat and your water bottle!

At 11 am McMaster University will offer Navigating Health Misinformation, providing strategies for identifying reliable sources on how to effectively search for evidence-based health information. As a result of attending this session, you will be empowered to make more sound choices when searching for health information online.

Next, at 12 o’clock, we have Human Connection 101: Building the Foundation for a Happy & Health Life with GenWell. In this session we are exploring how fostering human connections can dramatically improve your well-being, and learning practical strategies to build meaningful relationships that enrich our lives.  Since social isolation is the big challenge of our age, we will emerge with tips and tricks to stay more socially active.

The day rounds out at 1 pm with Creative Age: Mindful Gardening Terrarium Workshop. This program offers a fun, hands-on way to relax, get creative, and connect with nature. You will be guided through the process of designing and creating your own mini-indoor garden using soil, plants, and decorative touches, then have your own creation to take home. This program is facilitated by a Recreation Therapist from Cortellucci Hospice Vaughan.

Community Partner Tables

We have many community service organizations on site, about 12 in fact! We are welcoming The Vaughan Community Health Centre, Circle of Care, Alzheimer Society of York Region, the Ombudsman of Ontario and Ontario Caregiver, among others. Drop by to connect with services and ask questions.
