As we continue preparing for the opening of our new library, we’re excited to share the latest construction updates! With high-priority work ongoing, we’re reaching new milestones in both construction and installation, bringing us closer to completion.
Key Project Updates:
- High-Priority Systems
Work continues at full speed for critical systems, including IT equipment installation, ensuring smooth connectivity and access to digital resources. Efforts to secure a TSSA variance for our refrigeration system are underway, and progress on fire alarm and backflow preventer installations continues, safeguarding the library’s infrastructure. Meanwhile, site de-watering and permanent filtration systems are installed to keep the grounds safe and dry. - Integrated System Testing
Integrated system testing is ongoing, a crucial phase in which all library systems are tested together to ensure seamless functionality before the grand opening. - Signage and Furniture Packages
The signage and furniture packages are in various stages of the tender process, a critical step for outfitting the space with appropriate directional signage, informational boards, and comfortable, inviting furniture.
Library Interior Progress
- Carpet and Millwork Installation
The library carpet installation has been completed, lending the space a polished and professional feel. Millwork installation is progressing well, adding essential structure and design to the library’s layout. - Shelving Installation
Library shelving is scheduled to be installed in early December, a pivotal step as we prepare the space to hold thousands of books and other materials. Following this, we’ll receive our book delivery in early January, so materials will be ready for you to browse on opening day. - Furniture and Soft Seating
The soft seating package has been awarded, ensuring our customers have comfortable seating for reading and relaxation. The remaining furniture pieces are at various stages of procurement, bringing us closer to a fully furnished library environment. - Self-Checkout and Sorting Technology
The mini sorter and self-checkout equipment have arrived on site. Installation and programming are scheduled for mid-November, streamlining library operations for a smoother customer experience.
We’re thrilled by the progress and can’t wait to see this project come to life as a vibrant community hub. Stay tuned for further updates as we approach our grand opening!
