Ramona and Beezus

I went to the movies last Friday to watch Ramona and Beezus. I remember reading the first Beverly Cleary book Beezus and Ramona. The book always made me laugh out loud and the movie did the same. I think I really enjoyed the book simply because it felt like my life in a book. I was the eldest in my family with a younger troublesome sister. Like Ramona, my sister would always get into all sorts of trouble!Whether it be cutting her own hair, putting body lotion on the mirror in my mother’s room and taking loads of toilet paper to clean up the crime scene, or any other fiasco’s she had created, like Ramona my sister had  a great imagination. I would play the role of Beezus, always being annoyed by my younger sister and embarrassed by all her shenanigans. Time and time again I would be reminded that she was my only sister, who else do I have? My sister is no longer a hyperactive four year old, she’s grown up a lot…thank goodness. Watching the film brought back old memories ,and watching it with my now mature younger sister made it even more special.

My Thoughts:
Although I didn’t read the book, I did listen to it in the car (audio book). I truly enjoyed the easy to follow plot that was filled with a lot of action and romance!

Borrow Fang from your local VPL Library! Please note, that this book is number six in the series called Maximum Ride.

And it’s time for randomness – potatoes anyone??

The Spark of Ultimate Glory Ok, so I’m at work today, and I’m thinking I’m kinda tired…a little bored, and a whole lot of wanting to do something – but what??!?!?!!

Enter the randomness.
Mr. Potato Head

As we all know, P.E.I. is Canada’s capitol of potatoes. Potatoes, potatoes, potatoes galore! They are 1 of the 2 top regions in North America that are known for their potatoes. BUT, Did you know that on September 10 of this year, the best potato peelers of P.E.I. will gather and attempt to be the record for mostest, fastest, potato peelers in the world?!?!?!!!!
potato peeler
Seriously though, P.E.I. is holding potato peeling contests throughout the summer in an attempt to find their fastest peelers. The objective of this record: To have the most potatoes peeled by 5 people in 45 minutes. Idaho currently holds the record, but it shall be BEAT by the mighty Canadians!! BWA HA hA hAa hAAAA!!!!!!! Take that Idaho!!

Now that that’s out of the way, world records are both stupid and fun, making them an entertaining thing – making the Guinness World Records an incredibly random (and enjoyable) book to read – Read It!!!!

But when all is said and done, I know I want to be there in P.E.I. when we kick Idaho out of the record spot! Seriously! I do! I really, really do!!! What?!! You don’t believe me!?!??!?! *sniff* Fine, be that way.

Sooo, who here has traveled in Canada? What a place to be, place to see, place to do whatever you want – we’ve got it all!! (I am channeling the energies of the Canadian Tourism Board). Seriously, there’s so much to do and see, why not visit and check out the randomness that we offer? Let’s go to P.E.I.!! The dirt is red, and the waves look pink….and the potatoes actually really taste sooooo much better than what they taste like by the time we get them here. (I’m hungry)

And let’s make this a complete circle…..It’s Sunday, I’m at work, I’m hungry, I want to do something, I don’t know what I want to do, and I’m opinionated. What’s your opinion???

Should the library be open on Sundays during the summer?customer surveys

And that’s all she wrote!!!
