Books for Book Clubs

There is a wide variety of books available for different age groups. Book club sets are available for an extended loan period of four weeks. To borrow book club sets, your book club needs to register with VPL's Books for Book Clubs.

Register Your Club

Your book club's designated representative should complete the online form. To register, you must be at least 16 years of age. Persons under 16 years of age may have an adult register their group on their behalf.

Book Clubs Designee Responsibilities

As the contact person for your group:

• You will be your Book Club's designated representative and be the only person to request books for your Club;
• You may reserve books for your upcoming book club meetings;
• You will be notified by VPL when your books are available for pick-up at your designated branch;
• You will be notified by VPL of any problems with the bookings for your Book Club;
• You are responsible for telling your fellow Book Club members when and where the books are available for pick-up; and
• You will notify VPL if your Book Club no longer needs the books.

Your registration information will be kept on file for the purposes of running the "Books for Book Clubs" service.

Instructions to reserve and check out book sets

Here is the relevant information you need for Books for Book Clubs:

• Indicate the name of the book, number of copies you want to borrow, and the VPL branch for pick-up.
• VPL will notify you if there are difficulties fulfilling your request (e.g. the title is already in use) and will call you when the books are ready for pick-up
• You are responsible for telling your Book Club members when and where the books are available for pick-up
• Individual members of the Book Clubs should pick-up their copy of the book at the specified branch. Books will be held under the name of your Book Club at the circulation desk in that branch
• When individual group members pick-up their book, they will be asked for the name of their Book Club and the title of the book they will be reading
• Individual Book Club members must be VPL members and must bring their VPL Library Card to borrow materials.
