Through Craigh na Dun: An Outlander Experience

  • Travel through the stones of Craigh na Dun and celebrate the world of Outlander. The library will be transported back to Inverness in the 18th century for one night only. Ages 19+

    About this Event

    Travel through the stones of Craigh na Dun and celebrate the world of Outlander. The library will be transported back to Inverness in the 18th century for one night only. Costumes are warmly encouraged, but not required. Event runs from 7:00 – 11:00 pm.


    Ages 19+, Please bring your ID. Each person is required to have a ticket to be admitted to the event. To participate in the Whiskey Tasting Experience, please purchase the additional add-on. One add-on per person.
    NOTE: The Whiskey Tasting add-on is non-refundable.

    Stations/Activities

    Whiskey Tasting: This $50, hour-long workshop led by Vanek Whiskey Events will take you on a tour around Scotland through their famous whiskeys. Please purchase the whiskey tasting add-on if you are interested in taking part - space is limited. This workshop runs from 7:30-8:30.

    Herbs in Scottish Lore: Alyson Baker of Geek + Tea will be leading a one-hour lecture on teas, tisanes and herbs from Scottish Lore. This workshop runs from 7:30-8:30.

    Music: A fiddler will be playing Scottish reels and jigs throughout the evening. This performance runs from 8:00-9:00.

    Dancing: Enjoy learning Scottish Country Dancing. No partner or dance experience is needed. Indoor shoes with a low heel or well-worn running shoes are recommended for dancing. Dancing runs from 9:00-10:30, beginner lesson included.

    Painting: Enjoy a moment of solitude and contribute to Claire's medicine book by painting herbs. Or, pay homage to the stones at Craigh na Dune and paint some rocks. This station will be available throughout the evening.

    On Location: Take photos in the Green Room and act out your favourite (family-friendly!) scenes from Outlander.

    Poetry Recitation: Channel your inner Angus and Rupert by reciting Scottish poetry (bawdy or otherwise), or your favourite Outlander scenes.

    Oath-Taking: Pledge allegiance and design your own clan buttons using clan crests, tartans, or your favourite Outlander quotes.

    Refreshments: A variety of teas, shortbread, and other themed refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
