    Need a place to study for exams? VPL's study hall is open late for university students who want to study alone or in small groups. Hours: 9 p.m. to midnight on Mon. - Thurs., 6 to 9 p.m. on Fri., and 5 to 9 p.m. on Sat. and Sun.

  • Toddling to Read

    Thursdays, 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM
    This program features stories, songs, action rhymes and early literacy activities that you can continue to enjoy at home! Toddlers will enjoy lots of stimulation and activity. For ages 18 months-3 years with a parent or caregiver.

  • Vaughan Book Arts Celebration

    1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
    Books are beautiful! Explore letterpress, calligraphy, bookbinding and typewriters, along with repurposed books turned into quirky works of art. Take in a screening of the documentary California Typewriter.

    • Suminagashi (Japanese paper marbling)
    • Demonstration of Japanese bookbinding
    • Chinese calligraphy demonstration
    • Western calligraphy exercise
    • Hand Pressed Type activity station
    • Printing with Styrofoam blocks
    • Calligraphy activity station
    • Button making station
    • Make an kusudama flower station
    • Display of objects made from repurposed books, vintage typewriter and other notable items
    • Make a book activity
     2 p.m. California Typewriter movie screening
     2 p.m. Letterpress demonstration
     Other activities run all afternoon

    Mingle with like-minded adults and have great conversations about a book chosen monthly. The Library will provide a copy of the chosen title.

    Get a taste of what computer coding's all about! Use basic coding concepts to create small programs and solve puzzles in this 1-hour workshop. Register in advance. For children 7+
