What’ll it be?- The Extraordinary secrets of April, May & June

Robin Benway’s first novel was Audrey, Wait!, which I really enjoyed.  So when I saw that she had another book coming out, The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May & June, I added my name to the hold list and waited.  And not too long ago, it arrived shiny and new!

April, May and June are three sisters whose parents recently divorced.  Their dad is moving to Texas and they just moved with their mom from Orange County to the Valley in time to start the school year at a new school, as a junior, sophomore and freshman respectively.  On the Monday of the second week of school, they wake up with special powers.  April can see the future, May can disappear and June can read minds.  These powers can certainly help them cope with the difficult changes in their life, but maybe they should be using them for the greater good.

As long as you’re willing to suspend belief regarding the reality of these special powers, this is quite an enjoyable story.  I liked how all three sisters had distinct personalities and that how they used their powers was congruent with their personalities and goals.  And the interaction between the sisters was so true to life.
