Wednesdays at the Movies

Dufferin Clark’s Wednesdays at the Movies programming continues! Every other Wednesday evening, starting at 6:30 pm, we will screen a movie and offer coffee, tea, juice and popcorn to snack on. This summer, the emphasis is on family films. We hope to see you there!


June 23The Pursuit of Happyness (PG – Parental Guidance)


Come celebrate Father’s Day! Will Smith stars in this moving tale inspired by the true story of Chris Gardner, a San Francisco salesman struggling to build a future for himself and his 5-year-old son Christopher (Jaden Smith) with almost no money. With self-confidence and the love and trust of his son, Chris Gardner rises above his obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.


July 7Toy Story (G – all ages)


With the release of Toy Story 3 on June 18, catch up on the film that started it all! As six-year-old Andy’s favorite toy, Woody, a take-charge, pull-string cowboy, was confident in his role as room leader. But after Andy’s birthday party, newcomer Buzz Lightyear – a flashy space ranger sporting laser action and pop-out wings – crash-lands into Woody’s world, igniting a rivalry between the two toys.


July 21The Princess and the Frog (G – all ages)


Walt Disney presents The Princess and the Frog, an animated musical comedy set in the great city of New Orleans during the Roaring Twenties. This modern twist on a classic tale features a beautiful girl named Tiana, a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana.


August 4Astro Boy (G – all ages)


Set in futuristic Metro City, the animated movie Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving man’s expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with his father.
