VPL has a number of databases that can help you with your homework. You can use them in a Library Branch and from your home through the Internet -- all you need is a VPL library card and a Personal Identification Number. Note: Cookies are used in this part of the VPL Web site. A cookie is used when you login (but is gone when you get out of the system), and cookies are stored on your computer for some databases to work.

Discovering Collection
Discovering Collection offers easy access to award-winning content based on national U.S. curriculum standards. Covering the core curriculum areas, including history, literature, science, social studies, and more, DC provides a premium selection of reference, primary sources, creative works, and multimedia, including hours of video and audio clips. New to the database are popular topic picklists and an integrated national and state curriculum standards search with content correlated to the standards.

Grzimek's Animal Life
In 1968 Bernhard Grzimek, the famous zoologist and Director of the Frankfurt Zoo, published the Grzimek's Animal Life Encyclopedia. Gale updated the print set in 2004, including new articles and commissioning additional images. Grzimek's Animal Life on the web provides students and researchers with a dynamic, interactive resource that fosters more discussion and critical thinking skills. This product uses the content from the encyclopedia to provide unequaled coverage on more than 4,000 species, and includes more than 11,000 images, videos, illustrations, and maps.

Kids InfoBits
For kids from Kindergarten to grade 5. Featuring a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface, the most popular search method is moving from a broad subject to a narrower topic using the subject-based topic tree. The curriculum-related, age appropriate, full-text content is from the best elementary reference sources and magazines. This database covers geography, current events, the arts, science, health, people, government, history, sports and more.

Learning Express Library Canada
Offers the practice tests, exercises, skill-building courses, eBooks, and information to support learning at every level - from elementary to continuing education. It also includes a series of tutorials covering popular software products.

NoveList K-8 --- Your Guide to Fiction
An electronic resource that contains materials for all Kindergarten to Grade 8 levels and includes picture books, children's chapter books and young adult titles. Allows young readers and teachers to search titles by favorite author name, title, series name, and theme or topic. Also provides lists of award-winning and recommended books. Includes thematic units for teachers.

Pebble Go
A PreK-3 database for reading and research. It offers access to two databases: PebbleGo Animals and PebbleGo Earth and Space, and provides interactive content, learning activities, and games aligned to standards.

TumbleBook Library
TumbleBook Library offers online eBooks for kids! Not only are the books animated, but they are narrated too! TumbleBook Library also offers books in French and Spanish.

World Book Advance Reference Suite
Provides access to World Book Online For Kids, World Book Online Info Finder, World Book Online Reference Center, Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, and WB Encyclopedia Decouverte.
